Prostatitis

Classification

Prostatitis affects one quarter of men and of all office visits. Prostatitis is classfied as four types.

Acute bacterial prostatitis is the type of infection that is easier to diagnose and treat effectively. Chills, fever and pain in the lower back and genital area, urinary frequency and urgency, body aches, burning or painful urination,
are symptoms of this disease.

Chronic bacterial prostatatitis is the bactera persistence in the urinary tract. Effective treatment is with antibiotics but there is a chance that it may not work.

Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome is not well studied and very hard to treat. It may be inflammatory or noninflammatory.

Antibiotics is not very effective in treating nonbacterial prostatitis. You may need to find a treatment that fit you, and there is a diet change and warm baths that may help. alpha blocker maybe prescribed by doctor to relax your prostate tissue.

Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis is the absence of pain or discomfort but has wbc in semen. This case is found in infertility cases.
