Vitamins For Prostate Health

Vitamins and Minerals for a Healthy Prostate

One of the ways a man can make certain that he gets and maintain a healthy prostate is by making sure they are not vitamin or mineral deficient.

Below are 8 Vitamins and Minerals that have been shown to have a positive effect on the prostate.

The very best way to make sure that you get an adequate supply of these is to eat a healthy diet.

1. Beta-Carotene - Research has shown that beta-carotene intake was linked to a strong correlation with reduced prostate cancer in Japanese men.

2. Magnesium. Most people do not maintain proper levels of magnesium. For this reason, many people would greatly benefit from supplementing their diet with magnesium.

3. Selenium Initial evidence from the Nutritional Prevention of Cancer (NPC) trial suggests that selenium supplementation reduces the risk of prostate cancer among men with normal baseline PSA (prostate specific antigen) levels, and low selenium blood levels.

4. Vitamin K2 An increased intake of vitamin K2 may reduce the risk of prostate cancer by 35 per cent, suggest results from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC).

5. Vitamin B6 Vitamin B6 benefits more of our body processes than any other mineral or vitamin.

6. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxident and one that every man should take for a healthy prostate.

7. Vitamin E A clinical trial of vitamin E and ß-carotene supplementation for lung cancer prevention among male smokers in Finland recently reported an unexpected, strong protective effect of vitamin E against prostate cancer incidence and mortality.

8. Zinc In prostatitis, zinc levels are only ONE-TENTH of those in a normal prostate. (Fair and Heston,1977; Pfeiffer, 1978) One time-tested prostate remedy is eating pumpkin seeds. It is no surprise that pumpkin seeds are a good source of zinc

A Word About Supplements:

Even a slight search online will bring up page after a page of EXPENSIVE 'Miracle Cure' Prostate Supplements.

I feel many of these sites are simply taking advantage of the desperation that a man feels when his doctors informs him that "You may have prostate cancer"

My own research has proven that many of the supplements that people are charging hundreds of dollars a month for fall short in three vital areas:

1. They offer NO clinical proof or FDA proof that they work.

2. The EXACT same supplements are readily available at a fraction of the cost at your local health shop or supermarket.

3. They often ignore the need for changing your diet and exercise. Tha fact remains that if you eat like a pig and never exercise, all the supplements in the world are unlikely to do you much good!

You owe it to yourself to find out all you can about how to get and maintain a healthy prostate but make sure you don't get sidetracked by hype along the way...

Men's Prostate Health Vitamins - Supplements, Diet and Exercise For Good Health

This article is about prostate health vitamins or supplements used in conjunction with proper diet and regular exercise to keep a man's urinary system and sexual functions healthy.

Most men pay close attention to the most visible health factors such as cholesterol, blood pressure and weight. While these are certainly important elements of any healthy individual, many men also suffer from prostate problems which can have equally dangerous effects.

Even the symptoms from prostate problems, such as urinary and sexual dysfunction as well as lower body pain, can be debilitating to healthy daily living. In order to prevent the occurrence of prostate problems, or do help your body recovery from prostatitis, it's important to keep a well balanced diet and exercise regimen with proper prostate health supplements to good health.

Working to re-establish balance within your body begins with one's diet. Most often, prostate problems can be traced to an unhealthy diet, which is often skewed toward high fat products such as dairy and fatty meats. By limiting your intake of high fat, high risk foods, you can begin working to a more healthy profile.

As a next step, it is important to give your body the natural healthy inputs that it needs in terms of an abundance of natural fruits and vegetables which can help return your body closer to equilibrium. While these general steps will help you towards the path of prevention, it is important that you provide your body with dietary supplements to address specific needs that can help lower your risk factor for prostate problems.

In particular, you should make sure that you supplement your diet with ample amounts of calcium, antioxidants and vitamins in order to meet your body's needs. Without the calcium you need, you may be at higher risk, so make sure that you consume ample amounts of low fat dairy products. Antioxidants can further help your body deal with free radicals and cell damage with sources ranging from the lycopene in tomatoes to the antioxidant properties of berries.

Also, make sure you get ample amounts of minerals from zinc to selenium as well as vitamins D and E - consume these naturally, as well as taking a multi-vitamin supplement and specialized vitamins to target prostate needs. Prostate supplements can help you to put your body in a position to achieve a natural, safe recovery from your prostate problems.

Natural Cure For Prostate Disorders

Physical disability often results to sexual dysfunction especially on men. It can lead to prostate cancer in men with continued inattention. It normally occurs to middle aged men and up, around 40 to 59 years old. It is the time that cancerous cells are more likely to develop and lead to enlargement of the prostate.

Prostate is found below the bladder. This is a gland with a walnut size which produces seminal fluid. This gland surrounds the urethra that drains the bladders. Because of this, prostate disorder usually affects urination. There are actually three common prostate disorders. First is prostatitis which is an inflammatory infection. Second is benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is a prevalent but non-cancerous enlargement of prostate. And third is cancer, the most severe and serious prostate disorder.

Prostate disorders usually are associated with the changes that occur because of age. These changes are concentrated on the steroid sex hormones. When one reaches the age of forty, the production of testosterone declines which causes the dihydrotestosterone, a testosterone variant, and estrogen, which is a female associated hormone, to increase. Once the dihydrotestosterone grows, prostate enlargement develops. Even if there was an elimination of dihydrotestosterone, it still has the same effect to the estrogen.

This dysfunction of the prostate is called the nutritional disease. This may also come from animal derived foods, like red meat, eggs and dairy products. These are foods that accumulate environmental toxins.

The best and effective remedy for this is to have a diet rich in vegetables and fruits. There was proof in some countries that those who drink milk have higher risk for prostate cancer, the calcium content being the culprit. The excessive calcium intake, no matter what source it is, gives the body excess vitamin D which inhibits prostate cancer.

Those who consume guavas, tomatoes, tomato based foods, watermelon and pink grapefruit have lesser chances to get prostate cancer. These foods contain lycopene that are powerful antioxidant agents. These lycopene also reduces the tumor size that exists in the body.

Fructose is another prostate protecting food. This is sugar found in the fruits, sometimes used as a sweetener. Consumption of fructose reduces prostate risks. They also stipulate too much production of Vitamin D that inhibits tumor.

Lack of zinc in the body also affects prostate because prostate uses more zinc than any other body parts. Zinc alters steroid hormone metabolism, and reduces prostate enlargement.

Selenium is another essential nutrient to having a healthy prostate. With the increasing intake of selenium, the body would have enough defenses to resist or reduce prostate cancer risks.

Other nutritional supplements that inhibit prostate disorders are Vitamin D and Vitamin E which is an antioxidant. Also eat plenty of soy based foods with genistein, a cancer inhibiting agent, and garlic. Garlic has sulfur and cancer fighting compounds.

There are also herbal remedies available to fight prostate disorder, like saw palmetto. This saw palmetto is isolated from the berries of the small palm tree commonly found in United States.

Prevention is always better than cure. Be healthy and eat nutritious food to prevent incurring sickness like prostate disorders.

Prostate Cancer - Sun and Vitamin D

Cancer Centres in USA compared the lifetime sun exposure in men with advanced prostate cancer and men without disease and they suggest that men who had spent more time in the sun they lives were with low risk of prostate cancer.

Many researches have been done in this field, However, new studies in prostate cancer indicate that the men who spent more time in the sun in their live usually can reduce prostate cancer in about 50 per cent.

About the above point, researches shown that the prostate uses Vitamin D to promote the normal growth of prostate cells and in consequence to slow the spread of prostate cancer cells to others parts of the body.

Sun exposure prevent prostate cancer and the new research suggest vitamin D in supplement may be a safer option today for men. Consequently, it is advisable at time sun exposure.

Previous studies have shown that many places which long winter like Canada and North America men do not adsorb Vitamin D and others nutrients.

In Canada men do not adsorb vitamin D, and in consequence one of the seven can develop prostate cancer in their lives; United States new researches indicate that one of the five men can develop prostate cancer.

Researchers shown that vitamin D has many micronutrients that promote and prevent the prostate cancer in men.

To sum up; it is recommendable a suitable dose of vitamin D and to take sun in a responsible manner can considerably reduce the risk of develop prostate cancer.

The Truth About Natural Remedies For Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is a very serious disease that is claiming the lives of able and strong people all over the world. The rise in the number of men diagnosed with prostate cancer however is not surprising given the increase in the age of our population. With the baby boomer bubble now reaching around 60 years old, were looking for treatments and natural remedies to deal with this mostly senior disease.

Prostate cancer is typically considered a disease that usually affects men in their later years. This isn't to say the prostate cancer is ONLY a senior disease as some men have been diagnosed as early as their mid-30s with this type of cancer. There is research to suggest that prostate cancer may at least in part be hereditary. That is, if your father, uncle's or other close male relatives have or have had prostate cancer, your risk goes up dramatically.

Although agent heredity has been identified as major contributors to the increase in prostate cancer, there are a lot of things we can do to proactively prevent the disease or limit its impact on our lives. This is where natural remedies can really shine.

It's no secret that a healthy body is better able to fight off disease. It stands to reason than, that a natural, proactive remedy such as staying fit an active can only help.

Add to an active lifestyle, a low-fat diet, along with vitamins, minerals, and supplements to strengthen our immune system, and we have a strong arsenal to fight off many diseases such as prostate cancer. Let's be clear however, that I'm not suggesting a healthy lifestyle and vitamin supplements can cure cancer or even keep you from getting the disease.

Prostate Health Part 6 - Prevent & Treat Enlarged Prostate & Prostate Cancer With Vitamins & Mineral

As we mentioned in previous articles, We know that starting at age 40, the levels of by-product prolactin of testosterone of men increases, stimulating the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase that causes the conversion of testosterone to gihydro-testosterones DHT triggering prostate enlargement and other problems. Besides aging there are many other causes of enlarged prostate and some of them might result in prostate cancer. Beside foods nutrition and herbs, vitamins and minerals also play an important role in preventing and treating prostate enlarged as well as prostate cancer.

1. Zinc
Zinc is necessary for male sexual and prostate health. Zinc inhibits the uptake of testosterone into prolactin. The prostate gland contains a higher concentration of zinc than any other organ in the body, therefore zinc deficiency is the major cause of enlarged prostate as well as an early indication of prostate cancer.

2. Selenium
Selenium contains an antioxidant enzyme that helps to enhance immune function, stop early cancer cells in their development and control cell damage that may lead to cancer. Foods that contain high levels of selenium are bran, broccoli, eggs, mushroom, and basil nut.

3. Vitamin C
As we know Vitamin C, a water-soluble vitamin, is commonly known as an antioxidant. Some studies show that increased levels of vitamin C reduce the risk for prostate cancer as well as prostate inflammation and enlarged prostate.

4. Vitamin D
Vitamin D is found in foods and is also produced by the body and activated after exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun. Studies show that activated vitamin D may be broken down in the prostate, where it may plays an important role in preventing enlarged prostate and prostate cancer. Vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of prostate cancer.

5. Vitamin E
Vitamin E plays an important role in preventing prostate cancer because it interferes with prostate specific antigen (PSA) and androgen receptor proteins that play a central role in the development of the disease.

Vitamin D Deficiency Associated with High Incidence Cancer Mortality

According to many surveys Vitamin D deficiency rises as a global health problem in many countries and its consequences affect men and women worldwide. If human body has not sufficient Vitamin D, it cannot absorb calcium, thus the most common consequence induced by a lack of Vitamin D is osteoporosis. Normal levels of Vitamin D have been found to prevent malignant tumours of prostate, colon, breasts and ovaries, while low levels of Vitamin D have been linked with high incidence of cancers of the digestive system in male population.

Vitamin D is close related to natural sun exposure. It is generated by human skin when the sunlight touches it and no supplement can replace the effect of sun exposure. As rays of natural sunlight cannot go through glass, nobody can produce vitamin D when sitting in the car or home.

Studies revealed with no doubt that people living in countries situated far from equator (US, Canada, Great Britain) experience the Vitamin D deficiency because they need a longer sun exposure. Statistics show that about 40% of the United States population is vitamin D deficient and indicate that in Great Britain the majority of adult population are in the same condition.

People with dark skin pigmentation are prone to Vitamin D deficiency as they need about 20 times as much exposure to sunlight as fair-skinned people in order to produce the same amount of vitamin. This fact explains why among black men prostate cancer is epidemic.

How to Maintain a Healthy Prostate

As the baby boomer generation heads toward retirement, many of us (the male portion) are becoming more and more aware of and worried about, our prostate health. It is a total; departure from my father's and grandfather's day when they not only did not worry about their prostate, they probably didn't even know about it!

But today, men over fifty are concerned with, and would like to know how to, maintain a healthy prostate. What follows is my research into this subject and what the ordinary guy can do to keep himself and his prostate healthy naturally.

A varied diet that includes a lot of vegetables, nuts and fruit, and NOT a lot of red meat and a moderate amount of cardio exercise per week, a brisk thirty minute walk every day is a good regime to start, is key to the start of your quest to keep your prostate healthy. Men who eat a lot of red meat have been found to have a risk of prostate cancer that is 250 times greater than men who consume a small or no amount of red meat. Stick with turkey, chicken and fish. It's also better for your heart.

As far as supplements goes, this is where you can really do something good and simple for your prostate! There are several vitamins and minerals available that have been shown in clinical studies to aid in maintaining prostate health.

First of all is that old stand-by, vitamin C. Yes, good old vitamin C. It has been shown for years that vitamin C aids the body in healing infections and wounds. Now it has also been shown to have a beneficial effect on enlarge or infected prostates. Large daily doses of vitamin C can affect the prostate for the better, but anything over 3000 ml is probably going to be flushed through your system to no good effect.

And a mineral found to aid in treating and healing enlarged or infected prostates is zinc. Infections lower the body's level of zinc and prostate infections are even harder on these. Researchers believe that 50 - 100 milligrams of zinc daily is a good option.

Finally, as I mentioned before, don't discount the importance of a good diet, especially roughage. Lettuce, celery, apples, nuts, corn and other "rough" fruits and vegetables are essential to keep your prostate functioning at peak efficiency, especially in middle age and up.

As a final comment, please be aware that I am just a layman. While the facts I have mentioned above have come from the medical and scientific community, please check with your doctor on a regular basis and ask his opinion on all the subjects I have raised in this article.

Vitamin D - The Sunshine Vitamin

If I told you to go out into the sun without sunscreen on a regular basis you would probably think I had lost my marbles. But that is exactly what I am going to tell you. Why? Because research in the last decade proves that people living in the northern hemisphere particularly, have as a population, a significant deficiency of vitamin D. There are countless studies to show this, and many of them come from Dr. Reinhold Vieth at the University of Toronto, as well as Dr.Michael F. Holick at the Boston University Medical Center in Massachusetts.

Studies have also linked vitamin D deficiency to a number of chronic diseases including diabetes, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis and various cancers including the bowel, prostate, and breast. It's not that the deficiency of vitamin D actually causes these diseases, but that a vitamin D deficiency is strongly associated with them.

Vitamin D used to be recommended in relatively small amounts, and was added to milk in the early part of the last century to prevent the onset of a childhood bone disease known as rickets that softened the bones of young children. Although the addition of small amounts of vitamin D in food has for the most part prevented rickets, we now recognize that vitamin D is actually needed in much larger amounts.

Vitamin D is actually more like a hormone that it is a vitamin. A vitamin is actually defined as a substance, not made by the body, that must be obtained from our diet and that is vital to our well-being. Vitamin D is certainly vital to well-being, but it is actually made in the body with the help of sunlight, and it is only contained in small amounts in certain foods. The bulk of vitamin D comes from the ultraviolet light action of sunlight on the skin causing the cells of the skin to make it. Initially this is not its active form, and it must be converted to an active form both in the liver and finally in the kidney before it can act. Once in its active form it is responsible for calcium absorption and bone formation, as well as regulating many other processes in the body.

Here are some interesting vitamin D facts:

  1. The further you live from the equator and the darker your skin, the longer you need exposure to the sun to generate sufficient vitamin D. Ultraviolet light does not penetrate glass sufficiently for the body to make vitamin D, so you actually need to be outside.
  2. Having kidney disease or liver damage can impair your body's ability to activate circulating pre-vitamin D.Osteoporosis is commonly caused by a lack of vitamin D, which impairs calcium absorption.
  3. Sufficient vitamin D may help prevent prostate cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and depression, and low levels have recently been associated with chronic pain.
  4. Vitamin D deficiency may exacerbate type 2 diabetes and impair insulin signalling.
  5. Obesity impairs the action of vitamin D in the body, and obese people need more vitamin D, but they can store more of it in their fat cells and release it when needed.
  6. Your risk of developing serious diseases like diabetes and cancer may be reduced 50% - 80% through simple, sensible exposure to natural sunlight 2-3 times each week.Infants who receive vitamin D supplementation (2000 units daily) have an 80% reduced risk of developing type 1 diabetes over the next twenty years.

So how much sunlight should you get? Experts recommend about 10-20 minutes exposure of the head, neck and arms, to sun without sunscreen daily. In the winter, because of the angle of the sun at this latitude (in Canada), it is impossible to get sufficient vitamin D and it is recommended that everyone take at least 1000 international units per day during the winter. You should of course wear sunscreen after your daily exposure.

That's the good news! Sun exposure is not all bad, in fact a small amount is needed for good health.

There are four basic principles to health:
1. Good nutrition
2. Good exercise
3. Good thinking and emotional states
4. Good self-care

These embrace the mind, body and spirit of good health and well-being. This article addresses one or more or more of these principles. These health tips are short and simple. All tips, where applicable, are based on quality research that is being done in the medical field.

Best Vitamin Supplements - 3 Criteria A Best Vitamin Supplement Should Meet

Best vitamin supplements must meet high standards in three critical areas. Quality in all three areas is vital not only for health benefits but for safety reasons as well. The best vitamin supplements should excel in these ways:

1. The Design of the Supplement - the term 'efficacy' means 'to produce an effect'. When combined correctly, the effects or efficacy of certain vitamins and minerals in the body can be increased several times. And substances, whether natural or synthetic, when mixed together, can form other undesired or dangerous substances if they are not combined scientifically. When creating a complex best vitamin supplement formula, the professional qualifications of the design staff is a crucial part of the process.

2. The Quality of the Ingredients - there can be enormous differences in quality and potency as well as differences in costs of the individual ingredients. Priority should be given to quality, potency and purity with the best vitamin supplements since the final product will only be as good as the raw ingredients used. The manufacturer must have a system in place to verify that the ingredients used are as the suppliers claim.

3. The Procedures Used in Their Manufacture - the vitamin manufacturers producing large volumes may use a ribbon type blender and mix ingredients for only about 20 minutes. This means that low dose substances may not be mixed properly. The time that passes after mixing before encapsulating or tableting is important -- less than two hours between blending and tableting makes sure that the blend's integrity remains intact during the manufacturing process. The only dependable way to be sure you are getting the best vitamin supplements is to buy them from a facility that meets pharmaceutical industry production standards.

Are vitamin and mineral supplements really needed? Numerous studies have concluded that because of soil depletion, the overall nutrient value of foods has been declining for decades. Also, even the best vitamin supplements cannot substitute for a poor diet. Eating mostly junk food and taking vitamins will not provide you with the nutrients you'll obtain with vegetables and fruits. Vitamin supplements should be considered supplements, not replacements for food. For example, the latest USDA food pyramid recommends consuming 2.5 cups of vegetables a day for women and 3 cups a day for men -- most people do not.

The best vitamin supplements cannot be the one-a-day type. Why? One capsule or tablet simply cannot hold all that's needed in necessary quantities -- it would be way too large to swallow. One-a-day vitamins are probably a waste of money. And on the other hand, it's easy to end up with a dozen or more individual vitamins to take daily, requiring bottles and bottles which is both a hassle and expensive.

And finally, women need a different vitamin formula than men. A woman's supplement should contain nutrients that are proven by clinical studies to support the balancing of female hormones before, during and after menopause. The best vitamin supplements for men should contain ingredients specifically for supporting healthy male prostate. Including ingredients proven in clinical studies for the prevention of BPH or enlarged prostate is an important part of the best vitamin supplements for men.

Yes, there are manufacturers that meet or exceed the above criteria. Learn as much as you can about what finding the best vitamin supplements really means -- before spending your money, be informed about the products you'll be taking every day.

The Best Multi-Vitamin For Men - What Should You Expect

When looking for the best multi vitamin for men, you have to realize that supplements should contain different ingredients for different people. Therefore, the best multi vitamin for men should specifically target and address the health needs and body issues that men face as they progress forward on with life. Men and women face different concerns and rely upon different hormones and other factors for maximum health.

One of the biggest issues that men face as they age is the risk of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is one of the deadliest and most prevalent illnesses for adult males. Therefore, the best multi vitamin for men should address this.

There are many different ingredients that can be combined together to produce preventative results against this. One of these is Calcium D-Glucarate, which is a natural compound that has been shown to help prevent prostate cancer when taken in conjunction with many other healthy ingredients. Nettle extract is another ingredient that can help keep your prostate functioning as it should.

As mentioned, a great way to ensure that you get the most out of any one ingredient is to combine its effects with those of many other ingredients. Therefore, the best multi vitamin for men should have many different nutrient types to ensure maximum health benefits.

An effective multi vitamin will include amino acids, herbal extracts, enzymes and co-factors and of course vitamins and minerals. As a matter of fact, the best multi vitamin for men will include 60, 70 or more of these ingredients. This is what is required for a multi vitamin to have an impact on your health that you can feel.

Combining ingredients together is important because not only do you receive the benefits of each individual nutrient but they also work together in your body. That's where the importance of those co-factors and enzymes come into play. These are the helper compounds in your body that ensure other crucial processes and reactions take place.

Many different nutrient types combined together properly will allow the ingredients to play off of each other. In the best multi vitamin for men, the total, group effect will be much greater than the individual effects of any of the nutrients taken separately because of this synergy between the ingredients.

Also key to the health of men is proper hormone levels and hormone functioning. The key male hormone is of course testosterone. Chrysin is a natural compound that can help get testosterone in a healthy, high range. It does this by preventing testosterone from being turned into estrogen. Boosting testosterone is just one method out of many that can help boost the male sex drive and male sexual performance. Other key ingredients such as herbal extracts can provide you with more energy, greater alertness and improved mental health.

If you want the best multi vitamin for men, you have to get a multi nutrient supplement that is specifically designed and tailored to men. Issues like keeping a healthy level of testosterone and preventing prostate cancer are of the utmost importance.

Daily Complete Vitamins - Recommended Daily Vitamin Considerations

Daily complete vitamins should perform important functions such as slowing the aging process, strengthening the immune system and increasing energy levels. When considering which daily complete vitamins to take, remember that the least costly ingredients in a recommended daily vitamin are the vitamins and minerals. Your body also needs a wide array of anti-aging natural substances proven by clinical studies to provide specific health benefits.

Ideally, recommended daily vitamin and nutrient requirements would be supplied from your diet. For whatever reasons, many people make poor food choices every day. Junk food, processed food, sodas and sweets have become the norm for millions. Even with a well-balanced diet, studies find that nutrient values of foods have been declining for decades because of soil depletion.

Choosing one of the high-quality, broad-spectrum daily complete vitamins helps fill the 'nutritional gaps' that everyone has. The recommended daily vitamin essential nutrients that the body requires are extensive and are much more than just vitamins. High quality daily complete vitamins should include nutrients such as:

• Amino acids like L-Carnosine, alpha lipoic acid and acetyl L-Carnitine that have powerful proven health benefits.

• Bioflavanoids such as quercetin. Studies suggest quercetin may have inhibitory effects on various forms of cancer including breast, leukemia, colon, ovary, oral squamous cell, endometrial, gastric and non-small-cell lung carcinomas.

• Enzymes such as lipase and protease that improve the bioavailability of the nutrients.

• Immune system enhancing nutrients such as aloe vera, beta glucan 1,3 and polysaccharides.

• Neuronutrients like DMAE that is reported to minimize buildup of age spots in the brain. DMAE has been shown to stimulate lucid dreams, suggesting possible sleep pattern enhancement and memory enhancment.

• Eye health nutrients such as bilberry, lutein and zeaxanthin.

These recommended daily vitamin nutrients must be in correct proportions to each other based on the latest research. Few persons are qualified to design daily complete vitamins formulas, and most qualified persons are employed in the pharmaceutical industry. There are many different 'fractions' of each natural ingredient that must be examined individually, and the interactions of the various fractions followed at the molecular level to determine what metabolic pathway they may take in the body. For example, most people know that zinc benefits the male prostate, but few manufacturers/marketers know that most forms of zinc will not follow the metabolic pathway needed to get to the prostate.

And the 'delivery system' for daily complete vitamins is crucial. The active ingredients in most tablets, capsules, and liquid supplements never reach the intended organs. This is because they are damaged by stomach acids, or in the case of cheap tablets made with binders, pass right through your system. Done correctly, the daily complete vitamins and nutrients are released along with the enzymes intact in the duodenum (small intestine) where maximum absorption can occur.

If you are serious about slowing down the aging process, remember that no single magic pill or recommended daily vitamin supplement will help you achieve this objective. The best anti-aging daily complete vitamins are not the one-a-day vitamin type. One capsule or tablet cannot hold all that's needed in necessary quantities as it would be too large to swallow. The minimal vitamins found in the typical one-a-day supermarket vitamins are just the beginning and probably a waste of money.

And if you try to design your own vitamin supplement plan, it's easy to end up with a dozen or more individual vitamins, minerals and supplements to take daily, which is a hassle and expensive. Further, if certain substances are out of balance, it's possible they can combine to produce other unwanted compounds that can be harmful.

Another important consideration for daily complete vitamins is that women need a different vitamin formula than men. Women's supplements need nutrients proven by clinical studies to support the balancing of female hormones in the years before, during and after menopause. And the best complete vitamins for men should contain ingredients proven to support healthy male prostate.

Learn as much as you can about what finding the best anti-aging daily complete vitamins really means. Your health, energy and wellness is the issue. Before spending your money, be informed about the health products you'll be taking every day.

While the vitamin requirements of men are similar to that of women, they have some very specific nutritional requirements that should be addressed by any vitamin supplement they use. The primary needs that are unique to men are for prostate care and hormone balance. When looking for the best vitamin for men, there are some specific ingredients to look for.

The Delivery System

Before discussing ingredients, however, let's look at the delivery system. Many multivitamins have good ingredients, but do not have an effective way to assure the absorption of those ingredients into the blood stream. Many enzymes and nutrients are damaged by stomach acid. Some important anti aging compounds are among those that cannot survive in the stomach, such as Resveratrol, L-Carnosine and Sam-e.

The best vitamin for men will use a delivery system that allows these enzymes and compounds to make it through the stomach intact. The best way to accomplish this is by using supplements that have an enteric coating. An enteric coating is designed to not be affected by stomach acids, so that it does not break down until it is in the intestine where it is safe to release the ingredients.

Probably to most noticeable immediate benefit from an enteric coated vitamin is that you will never get an upset stomach from them. The ingredients are never released in the stomach, so you never need to worry about taking them with food.

Ingredients to Meet Your Vitamin Requirements

The best vitamin for men will be a broad complex of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other food based nutrients. It will include natural substances that have been proven to support prostate health and hormone balance.

A deficiency in vitamins and minerals will lead to mood swings, muscle deterioration, poor concentration, and the list goes on. The key to finding a source of effective vitamins and minerals is to find a multivitamin/mineral that uses plant based nutrients for it source. These natural vitamins and minerals are much more easily assimilated into our bodies than those that are synthetic.

There are many critical anti aging ingredients that you want in your nutritional supplements. A couple of them include SAMe and CoQ10. CoQ10 is a well known antioxidant that works to repair damaged cells that have been damaged by free radicals.

SAMe is a compound found in all our cells but is not found in food. As we age, the amount of SAMe our bodies produce decreases. A good nutritional supplement will provide this as one ingredient in order to slow down the aging process.

These are just a couple of many anti aging ingredients I cover on my website. The best vitamin for men will include effective ingredients like these. Remember, look for supplements that are enteric coated and have been through rigorous testing for potency and effectiveness.

Tips On Choosing Men's Vitamins

Men of today are more conscious of their health and body. More and more members of the male population are demanding health products that are focused on providing them nutritional supplements that are tailor fit for men's physical and mental needs and lifestyle. The increasing popularity of men's vitamin supplements is proof that the market is acknowledging the difference between the physical and nutritional needs of both men and women.

Since there are a lot of products in the market that are claiming to be the best vitamins for men, consumers may be confused. If you are interested in getting the best value for your money, read on and follow the tips on determining which men's vitamin supplement is best for you and your lifestyle.

Look at the label

The sheer number of multivitamins made specifically for men is truly overwhelming. In order for you to trim down your choices, you need to look at the nutritional guide of the vitamins in the market. According to experts, you should choose vitamin supplements that could provide all the essential vitamins and minerals you need daily. Preferably, look for men's vitamins that could provide you 100% of the vitamins and minerals required by your body everyday.

Since the diet of many consists mainly of fast food, they really need to find supplements that would make up for the vitamins and minerals that are not found in the food they eat. Why settle for men's vitamins that only give you, for example, 50% of your vitamin C needs when you can find a product that would give you 100%?

However, make sure that the multivitamins you chose do not go over the required daily values. Excess vitamins will not do your body good. You don't want to pay extra for something that your body will just expel through your urine.

Choose men's vitamins based on your lifestyle and diet

If you are someone who is health conscious and consume most of the essential vitamins, particularly the B vitamins, from the food you eat, you do not need supplements that provide very high level of vitamins. For example, if you eat vegetables and fruits that are rich in B-complex vitamins, you do not need to buy men's vitamins that provide more than 100% daily values of vitamin B1 to B12. However, if you think that the food you eat is deficient in certain vitamins, then you can take supplements that provide more than what your body needs for a day.

You don't need iron

Iron is important for women but not very good for men, especially for those over 50 years old. You probably will get the iron you need from the food that you eat, so you do not have to look for multivitamins that have iron. Moreover, excess in iron could lead to palpitations, serious heart problems and even joint aches.

Find men's vitamins that have higher daily values of Vitamin E and Selenium

Experts believe that selenium and vitamin E are important in preventing prostate cancer in men. Even if you do not have a family history of prostate problems, it would be advisable to be on the safe side and buy men's vitamin supplements that have over 100% daily values of selenium and Vitamin E.

Consult your doctor before taking vitamin supplements

Before you take anything, it is best to consult your doctor, especially if you are taking any medications. Some components of men's vitamins might have adverse effects on your condition or the drugs you are taking.

Vitamin Deficiency

Vitamins are essential for the growth and development of the human body. Vitamins are found in natural foods. A good diet virtually ensures an abundant supply of vitamins. Sometimes due to certain medical conditions, the body is deprived of certain vitamins, leading to a deficiency.

Vitamin A deficiency is a common disease in poorer parts of the world and causes night blindness. Vitamin A is found in fish, liver and green vegetables. Failure to consume sufficient quantities of meat, milk or milk products leads to a deficiency in Vitamin B12. This deficiency causes megaloblastic anemia and, if severe enough, can result in irreversible damage to the nerves, liver and intestinal tract. A person can experience hallucinations, memory loss, eye disorders and anemia.

Vitamin C, found in green vegetables, berries and citrus fruits, helps prevent infection, enhances immunology and can help prevent cancer. A lack of Vitamin C can cause anemia, bleeding gums, muscle degeneration and blood clots. A deficiency in Vitamin D affects the bones, heart, kidneys and the thyroid gland. Common symptoms are irregular heartbeat, Osteoporosis and brittle and fragile bones. Vitamin D also enhances the immune system.

Vitamin E is found in vegetable oils, whole grains, spinach and milk. A deficiency may cause an enlargement of the prostate gland, gastrointestinal disease, impotency and decreased circulation. Vitamin E helps prevent cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Vitamin K plays an important role in the formation of bones and blood clotting. It also converts glucose into glycogen for storage in the liver. A lack of Vitamin K leads to a low platelet count and poor blood clotting.

Folic acid is essential for the formation of red blood cells and is vital for normal growth and development. Folic acid is found in beans, beef, barley and chicken, amongst others. A deficiency of folic acid causes depression, anxiety and birth defects in pregnant women.

Vitamin deficiency can treated by recommending dietary regulations, oral supplements, or by injections. Oral supplements are useful for those unable to consume food rich in vitamins. Injections are useful for persons with diseases that prevent absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
