Ultrasound Scan for Prostatitis Treatment

Ultrasound scan is used for scanning the size, cyst and hardening of prostate glands. Usually prostatitis patients receive ultrasound scan before they start injections.

The prostate or another name transrectal ultrasound produces pictures of prostate glands. It sends sound waves through the rectum and it is a minimally invasive ultrasound scan.

A transrectal ultrasound of the prostate gland is performed to:

detect an abnormal growth of tumor or within the prostate
determine the size of the prostate to check for enlargement
detect infections and texture disorders of the prostate
transrectal ultrasound of the prostate gland is typically used to help diagnose symptoms such as during a routine physical exam or prostate cancer screening exam.

help diagnose a man’s infertility problems by checking abnormalty of prostsate.

Since ultrasound provides real-time images, it could be used to guide procedures such as needle biopsies to get an sample from an abnormal area for laboratory testing purposes.
